This workshop report discusses the direct and indirect effects of war and conflict on civilian health. The report describes how war and political violence can drive malnutrition, disease, disability, and generally adverse human health. The report also explains how often adverse health situations can indirectly contribute to war, while decisive health measures can serve as a bridge to peace. The report states that publicizing the connections between war and disease is important in order to incorporate the issue into international security and policy decisions.
