This paper describes and explains the impact of the international-driven ‘New Poverty Agenda' (NPA) in Ghana. The author argues that the NPA has had some effects, but notes that they have been limited and not necessarily helpful in achieving long-term poverty reduction. She assesses what programs and policies were implemented under the New Patriotic Party government during the period 2001-2008, given that the Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers adopted by the government contained only broad objectives rather than specific strategies.
