The National Audit Office (NAO) report assesses the state of military readiness of the Ministry of Defence and the British armed forces. The report conducts a thorough evaluation and also provides recommendations for future readiness measures and improvements. Generally the report concludes that the Ministry of Defence has an adequate system in place for achieving military readiness and that the system compares favorably with similar systems used in other countries. The report however also details that due to significant military problems related to a reduction in collective training, a shortage of resources, including military hardware, and overstretched forces around the globe, some important aspects of military readiness in the three branches of the British armed forces are compromised and require significant improvement.
