This conference paper examines the status of Iraqi minorities, refugees and internally displaced peoples. The report argues that for Iraqi refugees in the Middle East, lack of access to the economy, health care, education and other basic services, as well as competition over scarce resources with the local population are enduring challenges. Minorities continue to face discrimination and isolation within Iraq and fear a total loss of their way of life within the evolving state structures. The paper concludes with policy recommendations.
