This article addresses the challenges and opportunities faced by forest communities and Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) projects. The authors argue that REDD projects could generate funding from developed countries to reduce deforestation in developing countries. They also state that REDD projects, as projects that benefit all the actors involved in the climate process, could be a major factor in greenhouse gas reduction.
