This paper presents the consequences of the 2008-2009 financial crisis for the newly industrialized Asian countries like Singapore, Hong-Kong, South Korea and Taiwan. The author first gives a brief review of the Asian economy and its likely prospects in the short- to medium-term in the aftermath of the crisis. This is followed by a summary of the motivations for regionalism in Asia and a review of the major existing agreements.
