This policy note provides a brief overview of the implementation status of the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) between certain African regions and the EU. It looks at the impact of the Interim EPAs on the countries that initialled them, and provides recommendations on how to ensure that the eventual full EPA agreements promote the interests of African countries. The regions assessed include the South Africa Development Community, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), East and Southern Africa, and the East African Community. The authors state that while many regions have outstanding issues needing to be addressed, they are surmountable.
