This policy brief argues for the importance of including the African diaspora in Europe in the Joint Africa-EU Strategic Partnership in order to enrich ongoing Africa-EU political dialogue. The author examines the five key priorities highlighted by African diaspora organizations in terms of contribution to the Partnership: the advancement of Africa-EU policy dialogue through media outlets; 'smart partnerships'; employment; the strengthening of cooperation between diaspora organizations and civil society institutions in Africa; and the harnessing of the diaspora's bridge-building capacity.
