This issue of the Canadian Military Journal (CMJ) opens with a look at the dynamics surrounding Canada's 2004 national defense policy review process. Next, it explores the relationship between Canadian society and its armed forces, reviews the shared experiences of the Australian and the Canadian militaries during the Korean War, and addresses NATO efforts to transform in the post-Cold War era. It further assesses security at the 2002 G8 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, explores the use of caffeine to enhance soldier effectiveness during sustained military operations, and proposes a transformation agenda for the Canadian military termed "Full Spectrum Influence."
