This paper provides a report of the first ever EU-China think tank roundtable. The roundtable allows participants from both sides to discuss the state of EU-China relations and to give their opinions on issues such as UN reform, global governance, the use of force in international relations and the role of instituions such as the WTO and the IMF. Other emphasis is put on a comparison of the Asian and European integration processes, the state of EU-China economic and trade relations and the future of EU-China relations. Despite some disagreements on certain topics the participants agree upon the need to develop a strategic partnership involving various different fields that is based on the rule of law and a strong civil society.
