This paper discusses the complex national and regional security issues facing the Central Asian region and its security structures in the aftermath of the Cold War. The author uses the 'great game' analogy to argue that countries surrounding the region will influence geopolitics and regional security. She analyzes the interests and actions of Iran, Pakistan, India, Russia and China, and offers policy recommendations for the US in order to maintain stability and prevent conflict in the region.
