The paper discusses the structure of the US Atlantic Command (USACOM) and its requirement to implement the continental US power projection strategy. It reviews the creation and implementation of USACOM and assesses the limitations and successes as imperatives for change. The authors describe USACOM's evolution, demonstrating that the command is considerably different from what was envisaged in 1993. They recommend transforming it into a Joint Forces Command and emphasize the need to review the US Code and re-examine the basic tenets that underlie the structure and command of the US armed forces.
