This paper discusses the Czech Republic's perspectives on security and assesses whether joining NATO would effectively advance its national security policy. It examines the Czech view on European security issues, what it hopes to gain from NATO membership and how its interests and security relationships align with NATO's. The author discusses its relationship with Russia, arguing that the Czech Republic views NATO expansion as a political defense against Russia. He also contends that Czech national security policy ought to look beyond NATO membership, and explores how regional security cooperation ties into its views and policies towards the EU.
