This monograph overviews the US armed forces reserve components. It details the reserve components' roles, their legal basis, mission, mobilization, training, force structures and relationships to their respective active components. It also describes the Total Force Policy introduced in 1970 and discusses its application during US operations in the Persian Gulf in 1990 and 1991.
