This book presents the views of eight Strategic Studies Institute (SSI) analysts on the major trends that will influence US national and military interests in the decade succeeding 1994. The analysts consider transregional security concerns, the European security environment, peacemaking and the rise of extremism in the Middle East, Chinese military modernization and Russia's post-Soviet transformation. They also look at democratization in Latin America, development, democracy and security in Africa, and the outlook for the US armed forces.
