This book opens with an Israeli perspective on the dilemmas inherent in teaching both military and academic studies at military colleges. Next, it assesses the reform agenda of the Royal Netherlands Army in 2002-2003, and analyzes then-Russian President Vladimir Putin's foreign, domestic and security policy during his first term in office. The book also looks at EU-Russia relations and closes with an evaluation of Slovenia's accession to NATO as a case study in invalidating criticism of the alliance's post-Cold War expansion.
