This paper assesses the role of agriculture in global climate negotiations as an emitter and absorber of greenhouse gases. The author discusses agriculture within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change more generally, then provides benchmarks for integrating agriculture in a global climate deal at the Copenhagen negotiations.
