In this analysis of French foreign policy under President Nicolas Sarkozy, the author argues that France has not broken with past French policy, despite Sarkozy's rhetoric to the contrary. The author concludes that Sarkozysm is an amalgam of past policies, the purpose of which is to satisfy all strata of French society and to strike a balance between Gaullism and Mitterandism.
