This issue of the SUR Journal features articles on natural resources and human rights. The topics covered include 1) the role of law in preventing exploitation; 2) the role of the state and private enterprise in exploiting natural resources; 3) natural resource exploitation and climate change; and 4) the role of individuals in protecting natural resources. The issue also includes essays on the main features of the international human rights regime; the creation of the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts in response to the disappearance of students in Mexico; why the extent of violence against young, black poor people in Brazil makes it possible to describe the situation as a crime against humanity, and much more.
