This paper reviews the insurgent conflict in Cabinda in the aftermath of Angola's civil war. It discusses the human costs of war, the political goals of armed secessionists, as well as the legal and historical basis for self determination. The author provides a set of arguments for self-determination is based on Cabindans' cultural and ethnic specificity.
