This article relates Russia's position on North Korean nuclearization to the broader domestic debate in Russia over security policy, particularly towards Asia. The author contends that Russia's policy is a function of that broader debate and must be understood in that context. This article is not only a contribution to the understanding of the Korean crisis and Russian security policy in Asia, but provides a context for its overall formulation.
