This issue of the Russian Analytical Digest examines Russia-China relations. Firstly, Vladimir Portyakov analyzes current trends and future prospects in relations between the two countries. Secondly, Zhao Huasheng discusses some of the major developments in 2009 which confirm the widening of Sino-Russian relations. Finally, Shoichi Itoh looks at the Russian-Chinese "strategic partnership" in the field of energy. It is argued that the Sino-Russian energy partnership remains unsubstantial due to mutual distrust over geopolitical ambitions.
