This issue of the Caucasus Analytical Digest discusses literature in the Caucasus. Firstly, Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan examines the role of prose writers in Armenia’s early and Soviet periods and the collapse of book publishing in independent Armenia. Secondly, Nigar Kocharli assesses the challenges book publishing faces in Azerbaijan, ranging from the small markets inside the country to the changes in the alphabet in recent years. Thirdly, Malkhaz Kharbedia investigates the state of the Georgian literature as it developed since the late 1980s.
