This document describes several initiatives that use innovative financial mechanisms to promote conservation. Some of these programs are novel financial mechanisms that can provide new money to support conservation practices. Other programs restructure funding mechanisms to provide incentives for good practices. All of these programs work toward reshaping local economies so that economic, environmental and social needs are better met.
