Based on two research projects, this Policy Note highlights three main lessons drawn from the ways in which Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been described and addressed: 1) the problem of a reductionist understanding of sexual violence as a weapon of war; 2) the dangers of a singular focus on sexual violence; 3) the problem of the invisibility of men and boys as victims of SGBV.
