This study examines the role and effectiveness of community based organizations and community organization in addressing food insecurity and threats to livelihoods in protracted crisis. The underlying assumption is that better understanding of the role of these organizations, and of local institutions more generally, can lead to more effective ways of improving food security and livelihoods in protracted conflict situations.
