This report provides an overview of US-China trade relations and examines investment ties, trade issues and US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue. China’s economic growth and trade liberalization have led to an expansion in US-China commercial ties. Yet, bilateral trade relations have become increasingly strained over a number of issues, including a large US trade deficit with China, China’s mixed record on implementing its WTO obligations, and Chinese industrial policies. The report concludes with suggestions over how to more effectively address commercial disputes between China and the US.
