This issue of the Caucasus Analytical Digest discusses the political and economic development of the South Caucasus. First, Sven Behrendt and Iris Kempe anticipate possible future scenarios for the South Caucasus’s. Second, Stanislav Secrieru assesses the implications of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi for the Caucasus. Second, Alexander Iskandaryan examines the significance of Armenia–Turkey relations for the Caucasus region. Fourth, the likely trajectories of the political landscape in Georgia are discussed, referring to the 2013 presidential elections. Finally, Martin Kremer explores the future of EU relations with the Caucasus, predicting that the EU, rather than the US, will emerge as the main external player in region.
