Given the significance bestowed on the function, does the chairperson of the Pan-African organization have the capacity to orientate, or even influence for their benefit, the activities and policies of the organization? Can they exclusively claim ownership of the whole or part of the organization’s agenda for the expression of their personal vision and priorities for the continent or, on the contrary, do they run the risk of being overtaken by the functioning of the organization?
