With over 200,000 killed and 2 million displaced, the search for an end to the violence in Darfur continues. At the same time, slow progress has been seen in Sudan's Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which ended Africa's longest-running civil war in 2005. The CPA has been touted as a model offering both a framework for power- and wealth-sharing as well as a significant momentum for peace in Darfur, but the strength of that model cannot be taken for granted.
