Aug 2010

This policy brief examines the political situation in Burundi as of August 2010. Topics under consideration in this brief include reactions to the communal elections, possible future scenarios - including a return to rebellion - or maintenance of the status quo. The authors also posit the gradual deterioration of the political arena and renewed eruptions of (large-scale) violence. Lastly, they consider what should be done in terms of short-term and long-term engagement.
