This working paper is based on a field trip to Kabul in December 2009, aimed at mapping perceptions of insecurity among a range of actors in Afghanistan and assessing key conflict dynamics that are highlighted by local constituencies. The first part of the paper is devoted to key actors in Afghanistan, while the second examines some of the main dynamics associated with the conflict and stabilization effort.
