This paper analyzes whether the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) could further increase its international weight and whether member-states have sufficient determination to take action in order to achieve this. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was created in 2001, and it is the first regional integration attempt in the post-Soviet space that has spread beyond the boundaries of the former Soviet Union, and has included the People’s Republic of China.
