This overview paper reviews progress towards reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Bangladesh, Bolivia, Cambodia and Uganda. It discusses how the global financial crisis has affected these countries in broad terms on the basis of recent trends in development finance. It assesses MDG8 actions, and discusses alternative MDG8 measuring frameworks relating to how the global financial crisis, G20 issues and beyond-aid issues affect poor countries.
