This paper examines key issues surrounding 'next-generation' bio-fuels, asking whether production will rise enough to reach current legislative mandates and how costly such production will be. It further examines how investment in the field will be financed, what prospects investors see for cost reduction, and the role of agriculture in supplying feedstocks for production of next-generation bio-fuels.
