This report argues for a global framework to identify, implement, and enforce relevant standards across the global security industry (GSI), assisting states to achieve effective regulation. The GSI has undergone particularly dramatic growth following the US-led military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan. In the ensuing years, it has received particular attention regarding its perceived lack of respect for human rights and international humanitarian law, as well as labor rights and other standards relating to corporate responsibility.
