On the 31 October 2000 United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 was adopted providing for a range of measures aimed at the inclusion of women in the prevention, management and resolution of violent conflict. In particular, several of the resolution's provisions addressed the role of women and gender in peace negotiations and agreements.
