The EU and the UN should be seen as partners in multilateralism as they share the same fundamental values and goals. A big step forward and an undoubted success of EU diplomacy is the newly received “super observer” status within the UN General Assembly. This is a major victory for the EU in its attempts to enhance its role on the global stage and will enable the European Union to play a more significant role at the UN.
