Generally viewed positively by the public and widely supported in Congress, the Peace Corps is a US agency that provides volunteer skills internationally. In 2013, the 113th Congress will consider the President’s FY2014 funding request for the Peace Corps and possible efforts to reauthorize it. This report reviews these issues as well as others such as whether the agency has the institutional capacity to expand and if its volunteers are able to function in a safe and secure environment.
