Legitimacy is the loose theme of this issue of the Central European Journal of International and Security Studies. Traditionally manifested in types of political representation and extensions of territorial sovereignty, legitimacy forms the backbone of domestic and international political life. Yet processes of legitimation are not stagnant; they interact with wider political contexts. In other words, legitimacy is ever-evolving.
