This report summarizes the discussion at the 'The New Geometry of Global Summitry' conference in May 2011. The conference focused on a series of critical topics related to the G20’s prospects. It discussed whether the G20 will become a “global steering group” and, if so, how will its legitimacy be assured; the challenges of global governance and the need for summitry; the future roles of the G8, the UN and the G20; and the future agenda of the G20.
