Iranian authorities initially did not hide their satisfaction in the collapse of the regimes in Tunisia and Egypt, but their reactions to successive Arab revolts were more balanced. A growing concern for the Iranian government has been raised with the escalation of the crisis in Syria, which might result in the loss of a strategic ally and a favorable situation in the Middle East.
