This paper looks at recent developments in the African Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Treaty. These include the establishment of its compliance body, the African Commission on Nuclear Energy (AFCONE) and progress made by both the US and the Russian Federation in ratifying those Protocols to the Treaty that are relevant to them.
