This paper examines the attempts to achieve lasting disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of armed groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The author argues that the case of the DRC highlights some pertinent issues with regard to security sector reform and donor-led peace-building efforts in Africa.
