This paper focuses on the possibilities and pitfalls of developing a regionally based solution to the mounting conflicts in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The authors highlight the pros and cons of forming a regional contact group that might produce more creative and flexible approaches the the situation, given the failures of the established approaches in the past eight years.
