This article discusses the state of Burundi's democracy and the risks it still faces. Although the return to civil war seems small in Burundi, the semi-democratic nature of the regime may spark renewed violent conflict. The author argues that to achieve long-lasting peace, it is vital for national and international stakeholders to coordinate efforts towards fostering a healthy political climate.
