This report summarizes the central conclusions of a conference on power relations in Latin America hosted by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2009. These include that: significant changes have taken place in the distribution of political power in Latin American countries over the past decade; there is a growing trend toward 'trans-regionalization' in the political and trade relations of these countries; and that changes in regional power dynamics have been hastened as Latin American countries distance themselves from the United States.
