This monograph provides a wide-ranging and therefore useful political portrait of the Horn of Africa -- i.e., it explores the shape of interstate relations, to include its history, balance of power dynamics, and crises; it investigates the role of individual states, to include their structural foundations and processes; it describes the region's political decision-making processes and methods; and it unsurprisingly grapples with the area's well-publicized insurgencies and other prominent intrastate problems.
