Sexual abuse is a severe and widespread problem in correctional centers. This booklet aims at informing staff in South African correctional centers about what qualifies as sexual violence and gives them recommendations on how to support victims of rape, and how to prevent inmates from becoming victims. While this booklet considers the assistance, support and protection needed by both male and female victims, the main focus is on male victims.
