High levels of sexual violence are key aspects of the current epidemic of violence that is affecting South Africa. As part of an overall project on the violent nature of crime in South Africa, this report addresses questions relating to the nature and causes of sexual violence in order to provide a basis for making recommendations on how to prevent or combat sexual violence more effectively.
